Mark Poynton started his career aged 15 as a part-time waiter in Chester. Within six months he'd moved into the kitchen to start a remarkable journey that included eight-and-a-half years with two Michelin-starred Daniel Clifford, at Midsummer House, in Cambridge. Soon after, Mark took up his first head chef position, at Alimentum, guiding that to a Michelin star and three rosettes.

He decided to launch his own restaurant, MJP @ The Shepherds, at Fen Ditton, near Cambridge, taking the keys as the UK was in lockdown due to Covid-19. His lovingly produced book, therefore, has been a long time in the making. Featuring classic recipes from a starred and glittering career, it will appeal equally to professional chefs and home cooks. Telling his remarkable story and sharing recipes for cooks to recreated, It's Just Food is a towering achievement from one of the UK's best and most popular chefs.
